PARTICIPANT HIGHLIGHT – Elizabeth Gianino – 2015 PROGRAM

Elizabeth Gianino says she likes to know her work this summer at UGA could have a direct impact on people’s health. Elizabeth, a junior at Wake Forest University, is one of ten scholars from across the U.S. conducting research in the UGA College of Engineering as part of its Nanotechnology and Biomedical Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. Working with faculty mentors Cheryl Gomillion and Hitesh Handa, Elizabeth is part of team trying to develop antibacterial biomaterial scaffolds to help treat bone fractures through tissue engineering.
