PARTICIPANT HIGHLIGHT – Jessica Aldrich – 2017 PROGRAM

Jessica Aldrich, a rising senior at Wichita State University, is one of the excellent students from across the U.S. conducting research in University of Georgia laboratories this summer as part of our Nanotechnology and Biomedicine Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program.

Working with Jin Xie, an assistant professor in the department of chemistry, Jessica is helping develop a novel type of MRI contrast agent that promises to be less toxic than agents currently in use.

“What I’ve learned while here I don’t think I could have learned otherwise,” said Jessica, who is working toward dual bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biomedical engineering. “It’s been nice to focus more time on research.”
