PARTICIPANT HIGHLIGHT – Awa Bakayoka – 2016 PROGRAM
“I’ve always been curious about research and with my background in genetics, it’s exciting to work on a project related to breast cancer.”
Awa Bakayoka, a rising senior at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, is one of the talented students from across the nation participating in our summer-long Nanotechnology and Biomedicine Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. Awa has been working with Dr. Cheryl Gomillion to develop a model for characterizing the metastatic behavior of various types of breast cancer cells.
