I&#8217;ve been able to use all the knowledge I\u2019ve learned in school to accomplish something that hasn\u2019t been done before. It has also made me think more seriously about going to grad school.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Michelle Hedlund, a biomedical engineering student at Washington University in St. Louis, spent this summer working with researchers at the University of Georgia to develop a system for imaging blood flow using a technique known as laser speckle contrast imaging.
